"Bakuten!! Rhythmic Gymnastics original TV anime series has been announced for April 2021, new PV and key visual revealed

Original TV anime series "Bakuten!!" has revealed on Thursday through its official website that the new gymnastics sports series will begin broadcasting in April 2021. A new promotional video (PV) and key visual were also revealed. It will premiere in the notaminA anime block of Japan's Fuji TV.

The new series will be animated by ZEXCS with Toshimasa Kuroyanagi as the series director. Toshizo Nemoto will be in charge of series composition and scripts. The original character designs are drawn by My Little Monster manga creator Robico with Yūki Shibata for the animation character designs and will serve as the animation director.

Cast includes Shimba Tsuchiya as Shōtarō Futaba, Kaito Ishikawa as Ryōya Misato, Daisuke Ono as Masamune Shichigahama, Takashi Kondo as Keisuke Tsukidate, Hiro Shimono as Nagayoshi Onagawa, and Hiroshi Kamiya as Kōtarō Watari.

In 2021, which marks the 10th anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake, the series will be produced as part of "Zutto Ouen. Project 2011 + 10 ..." together with "Misaki no Mayoiga" and "Hula Fulla Dance", which delivers three anime works set in the disaster area.

The story follows a high school rhythmic gymnastics team in the city of Iwanuma located in Miyagi prefecture. Shōtarō Futaba who is fascinated by gymnastics joins the rhythmic gymnastics team of his new high school Sōshūkan High School, nicknamed "Ao High." He makes a friend with his schoolmate Ryōya Misato, who earned fame as a gymnast during middle school.
