"Gintama: The Final Movie" anime film teaser has been released, premieres January 8, 2021

The official Youtube Channel of Warner Brothers Japan has revealed Wednesday, a teaser for the upcoming anime film adaptation of Hideaki Sorachi's "Gintama" manga series. The film is entitled "Gintama: The Final" and is slated to premiere on January 8, 2021.

The teaser was obviously produced during the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic as the characters including the protagonists Gintoki, Kagura and Shinpachi talks in a skit about the stay-at-home practices and their lifestyle during the pandemic.

The teaser claims that the movie will be the "the finale, for real this time" for the franchise.

A new net anime special with a story that will tie into the film will also come soon inspiring the manga series. It will premiere exclusively in Japan via the online dTV service in early 2021.

Gintama manga series began its serialization last 2003 and ended in 2019 with over 55 million copies in circulation worldwide. Several TV anime series adaptation seasons was produced with a total 367 episodes across the board. The latest anime series premiered in July 2018. Animation studios Sunrise handled the production from Episode 1 through 265 and later was transferred to Bandai Namco Pictures from Episode 266 until its last episode. The manga has also inspired two previous anime films, one upcoming anime film, OVA projects, two live-action films, two live-action net spinoffs and anime events.

It was highly acclaimed as the most comedic manga series during the generation and the most diverse as it collaborates with different anime series through their famous crossovers such as Death Note, Sket Dance, Assasination Classroom, Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma, Hayao Miyazaki films and many more.
