The spin-off series written by Hirano will be divided into 2 chapters, one chapter for the two magazine issues. The story follows Kyojuro Rengoku, The Flame Pillar, who is one of the nine most powerful swordsmen in Demon Slayer.
Hirano also drew the two-chapter side-story manga "Kimetsu no Yaiba: Tomioka Giyū Gaiden" that debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in April 2019.
Koyoharu Gotouge's original manga series "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" was highly-admired by many fans all over the world and in fact, the franchise as a whole will have more than 100 million copies in circulation when the manga's 22nd compiled book volume ships on October 2.
The manga inspired a 26-episode television anime that premiered in April 2019. The anime will receive a sequel anime film that will open in Japan on October 16. The manga has also inspired three novels, a stage play, and upcoming mobile and PS4 games.
