"Homura" is in the genre of ballad and the musical arrangement was done by Yuki Kajiura. The lyrics of the song were composed in collaboration of Kaijura and LiSA.
The song was made after the success of her previous single "Gurenge". LiSA's 15th single song "Gurenge," the OP theme for the TV anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, has been streamed over 100 million times on subscription services worldwide since its digital release on April 22, 2019. This was a milestone for her as only a few single artists reached that breakthrough.
On the other hand, her newest album "LEO-NiNE", is LISA's first full album in about 3 years and a half since the previous released of her 2017 album "LiTTLE DEVIL PARADE" which include the song "Catch the Moment" that was used as the soundtrack for the anime film "Sword Art Online: The Ordinal Scale".
On October 15, both her fifth album "LEO-NiNE", and her single "Homura" topped the Oricon's daily top album and single charts. Both LiSA's works were released at the same time on October 14.
