'Liar X Liar' live-action film opens in Japanese theaters on February 19, first trailer and visual released

The trailer for the live-action film adaptation of Renjuro Kindaichi's "Liar x Liar" manga series has been released on Monday by film production company ASMIK Ace through their official YouTube channel. A new visual featuring the main protagonists and the list of cast and staff was revealed. The film is scheduled to premiere in Japanese theaters on February 19, 2020.

The film is directed by Saiji Yakumo with the script written by Yuichi Tokunaga. The cast includes the main leads Hokuto Matsumura to play the role of the male protagonist Tōru and Nana Mori as the female protagonist Minato, Yūta Koseki will play as Shinji Karasuma, Mayu Hotta as Maki Noguchi, Ryūya Shimakake as Shō Yoshitaka, Shunya Itabashi as Junta Kawanishi, Shōko Aida as Hitomi Takatsuki, and Ryōsuke Takei as Noriyuki Takatsuki.
Japanese band SixTONES' is performing the film's theme song titled "Boku ga Boku janai Mitai da (It's Like I'm Not Myself)".
The film is based on the Japanese slice of life comedy shōjo series written and illustrated by Renjūrō Kindaichi. It was serialized in 2010 in Dessert magazine and ended in 2017. The tankobon volumes were published by Kodansha.
Kondansha describes the manga series as:
One day, after borrowing her friend's high school uniform and taking a walk around town on a whim, Minato runs into her younger stepbrother, Toru! Toru believes Minato when she insists she's someone else...but now it looks like he's fallen in love with her high school girl disguise?! A weird, weird love story begins!
