'Natsume's Book of Friends' two new episodes has been announced, premieres early Spring 2021 in Japanese theaters

The official Twitter of Yuki Midorikawa's Natsume Yuujinchou manga series has announced on Friday, that the TV anime adaptation of the series will be receiving two new episodes. It will premiere early Spring next year in Japanese theaters. A new visual for the announcement has also been released featuring Takashi Natsume and his spiritual advisor "Madara (Nyanko-sensei)".

Natsume's Book of Friends has been adapted as an anime television series produced by Brain's Base and is directed by Takahiro Omori. A total of 6 seasons were already released spanning from its first episode release last July 7, 2008. The first season titled "Natsume Yūjin-chō" consisted of 13 episodes and was followed by its second season titled "Zoku Natsume Yūjin-chō" which was aired January 5, 2009 consisting of another 13 episodes. 2 years after, the third season titled "Natsume Yūjin-chō San" was aired July 5, 2011 and was immediately continued to the fourth season titled "Natsume Yūjin-chō Shi" which both seasons consisted of 13 episodes. It was 4 years since the last season was aired and a new season titled "Natsume Yūjin-Chō Go" was announced and aired October 4, 2016 consisting of 11 episodes and followed by its sixth season titled "Natsume Yūjin-chō Roku" with another 11 episodes aired April 11, 2017.
The series was based on the Japanese manga series written by Yuki Midorikawa that was serialized by Hakusensha in the shōjo manga magazine LaLa DX in 2005, before switching to LaLa in 2008. The chapters have been collected in twenty-three bound volumes.
The series is about Natsume, an orphaned teenage boy who can see spirits, who inherits from his grandmother the notebook she used to bind spirits under her control.
A film, "Natsume's Book of Friends the Movie: Tied to the Temporal World" was released in theaters on September 29, 2018.
