"Official HIGE DANdism" performs theme song titled "Universe" for Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's Little Star Wars

The first promotional video (PV) streamed by the official Twitter of anime Doraemon has revealed that Japanese pop band "Official HIGE DANdism" is composing and performing the original soundtrack (OST) titled "Universe" for the upcoming Doraemon film "Doraemon: Nobita's Little Star Wars". The film is scheduled to open in Japanese theaters on March 5, 2021.

Official Hige Dandism, commonly abbreviated Higedan, is a Japanese pop band formed in Shimane, Japan in 2012 by Satoshi Fujihara (lead vocals, piano), Daisuke Ozasa (lead guitar, backing vocals), Makoto Narazaki (bass, saxophone, backing vocals) and Masaki Matsuura (drums, percussion, backing vocals). The band became widely known for their performance of "Yesterday" that was used as the official soundtrack for the anime film "Hello World" in 2019, and through their hit single "Pretender" released on the same year.
The song "Pretender" was awarded as the Song of the Year in the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards Japan and the same award just this year in the 2020 Space Shower Music Awards. The band also received the "Best New Artist Video" award in the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards Japan for their single "No Doubt".
The 41st Doraemon film franchise "Eiga Doraemon: Nobita no Little Star Wars (Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's Little Star Wars)" is a remake of its 1985 film of the same title. A visual and its first promotional video were released on Monday along with the announcement of its release date. Susumu Yamaguchi is directing the new film with Dai Sato creating the scripts. 3D CG animation studio Shirogumi which is also behind the animation production for the Doraemon the Movie: Stand By Me 1 & 2 films, will be handling the CG of the film.
Doraemon's 40th film, Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's New Dinosaur, opened in Japan on August 7. It was originally scheduled to premiere last March 6 but was later postponed due to the effects of the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
