'One Piece' manga series to take a one-week break next week, Chapter 997 to be released as scheduled

Eiichiro Oda's "One Piece" manga series will be taking a one-week break next week as announced by the unofficial Twitter of Shounen JUMP news on Tuesday. The series will not appear on the 1st issue of this new year's (2021) Weekly Shounen JUMP magazine scheduled for release on December 5 (Dec. 4 on Manga PLUS) that will result to the delay of the scheduled Chapter 998 of the series. Chapter 997 will be released as scheduled this week.

One Piece's Chapter 998 will be rescheduled for release on December 12 (Dec. 11 on Manga PLUS).
As of writing, the manga series already have 974 chapters published under 96 volumes. One Piece manga was serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump manga on July 19, 1997.
Last August 2020, the 35th issue of the 2020 Shueisha's Weekly Shounen Jump magazine (Issue 35) teased that Eiichiro Oda's One Piece manga series is "headed toward the upcoming final arc". This teaser was included in an advertisement in the magazine of the 10th Volume of One Piece Magazine released on September 4. It was recalled that in a YouTube video published September 2019, Oda reported that he "wants to end it in five years." - pertaining to the One Piece story.
