Sachiko Kashiwaba's novel series "Mayoiga on the Cape" is getting an anime film adaptation, premieres 2021

The official website of Sachiko Kashiwaba's "Mayoiga on the Cape" has announced on Thursday that the novel series is getting an anime film adaptation to premiere in 2021. A key visual and promotional video were also revealed.

The new film will be animated by David Production and will be directed by Shinya Kawatsura with script by Reiko Yoshida. The original novel was published by Kodansha in 2015 and won the "Noma Children's Literature Award" in 2016.
"Mayoiga on the Cape" is a daily fantasy that depicts the communal life of families with no blood connection, set in "Mayoiga", an old folk house with a view of the sea that makes you feel nostalgic and warm. In 2021, which marks the 10th anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake, it will be produced as part of "Zutto Ouen. Project 2011 + 10 ...", which delivers three anime works set in the disaster area.
