'World Trigger' Season 2 TV anime series reveals its 2nd teaser visual, series to air soon

The official Twitter and website of the TV anime adaptation of Daisuke Ashihara's "World Trigger" has revealed on Thursday its 2nd teaser visual for the series' 2nd season. No release date has been announced. TOEI Animation is animating the new season.

The visual featuring the main character Yūma Kuga was created by Toshihisa Kaiya, who has been in charge of character design for the anime "World Trigger" since the 1st season.

The first television series adaptation produced by Toei Animation consisting of a total of 73 episodes was aired on TV Asahi from October 2014 to April 2016. The series was directed by Mitsuru Hongo with series composition by Hiroyuki Yoshino. Toshihisa Kaiya and Hitomi Tsuruta are the character designers and animation directors, and the music is composed by Kenji Kawai. The first season's cast included Nobuhiko Okamoto, Rie Kugimiya, Hideyuki Tanaka, Nao Tamura, Jun Fukuyama, Tomo Muranaka, Yūki Kaji, and Yūichi Nakamura.

The "World Trigger" TV anime series is based on Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Daisuke Ashihara. It was initially serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from February 2013 to November 2018 and transferred to Jump Square in December 2018. Its chapters have been compiled by Shueisha into 22 tankōbon volumes as of June 2020.

Plot Summary via Anime News Network: One day a gate to another world opened in Mikado City. This entities of the other world, called Neighbors, sent out an invasion force that overran the area surrounding the gate. Given the technological superiority of the Neighbors, the destruction of the city seemed only a matter of time. But then suddenly Border appeared in the town, an organization that researches the technology of the Neighbors to protect this side of the gate. In a short time they built a huge base and became established as the line of defense against the Neighbors. One day a student named Yūma transfers to the same middle-school class as Osamu, a teenager who belongs to Border. He has a weapon called Trigger that is only allowed to be possessed by people in Border, and claims to have come from beyond the gate.
