The official Twitter account for Gege Akutami's "Jujutsu Kaisen" manga series has announced on Tuesday that the manga has exceeded 36 million copies in circulation with physical and digital copies combined worldwide. That's another additional 11 million copies just in the past month since its publisher Shueisha announced that it reached 25 million copies last January 26 and 30 million last February 9.
The latest 15th tankōbon volume of the manga will start shipping on March 4.
On January, the count rose up to over 290% in just a few months and the TV anime adaptation served as one of the major reasons behind the increased sales. On October 29, 2020, the manga celebrated its previous milestone of 10 million copies in circulation.
The Jujutsu manga series was serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump since March 2018. The individual chapters are collected and published by Shueisha, with thirteen tankōbon volumes released as of October 2020. Shueisha also began to simulpublish the series in English on the app and website Manga Plus in January 2019.
A 24-episode anime television series adaptation produced by animation studio MAPPA has premiered in October 2020. The series is directed by Sunghoo Park at MAPPA and Hiroshi Seko is writing and supervising the scripts. Tadashi Hiramatsu is designing the characters with Hiroaki Tsutsumi, Yoshimasa Terui, and Arisa Okehazama composing the music.
