Need an anime song playlist? Check out our seven anime song recommendations for when you want to appreciate that exciting, but equally stressful feeling called love.
And yes, the romantic comedy anime shows they come from are just as good!
1. Catch You Catch Me
Anime: 'Cardcaptor Sakura' first opening theme
Sung by: Megumi Hinata
With Cardcaptor Sakura being one of the most memorable anime in history, long-standing fans have probably been belting out this song for years. The lyrics describe the exciting, heart-racing feeling of wanting to be approached by your crush, but also the nervousness that comes with it. Sing along with composer Kohmi Hirose (広瀬 香美) herself on her official YouTube channel.
2. Fiction
Anime: 'Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku' opening theme
Sung by: Sumika
Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku is an anime many people enjoyed for being highly relatable. There's nothing like admitting that the process of falling in love can get awkward. But on the flipside, it can also be really fun and rewarding. Let's all appreciate the way the song invites us to turn the pages of our own life (and possibly love) stories.
3. 「じゃじゃ馬にさせないで」(Romaji: Jaja Uma ni Sasenai de; English: Don't Make Me a Shrew)
Anime: 'Ranma ½' first opening theme
Sung by: Etsuko Nishio
As the title suggests, the song is a funny way for heroine Akane Tendou to beg her partner Ranma Saotome not to annoy her. Ranma is a loud, sometimes violent, always annoying person who is most definitely not mature enough to get engaged! But Akane does not have much choice in the matter and now she's doing her best to make do with the situation. We hope she keeps her temper!
4.「君じゃなきゃダメみたい」(Romaji: Kimi ja Nakya Dame Mitai; English: I Think It's Gotta Be You)
Anime: 'Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun' opening theme
Sung by: Masayoshi Ōishi
This opening theme song for Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun is definitely un-skippable for how catchy it is. It has a playful sound, with desperate, head-over-heels-in-love lyrics. This song will be playing in your head for weeks.
5. Let Me Be With You
Anime: 'Chobits' opening theme
Sung by: ROUND TABLE feat. Nino
This classic, falling in love song is just as memorable as the anime itself. The lyrics describe the transition of two people meeting each other, falling in love, and realizing they want to be together forever. It definitely sounds like a magic spell.
6. Monoqlo City
Anime: Koi to Yobu ni wa Kimochi Warui ("Koikimo" for short; English title: It's Disgusting to Call this Love)
Sung by: ACE COLLECTION
We're definitely ranking this as one of the most bop-worthy songs of 2021. The lyrics talk about the denial process one goes through before they admit they're in love. From running away, to seeing random reminders of your person everywhere, all the way to rationalizing how you feel, this song describes it all. And it is absolutely catchy.
7. Sakura Kiss
Anime: 'Ouran High School Host Club' opening theme
Sung by: Chieko Ochi/ Chieko Kawabe
We're pretty sure you sang " KISS KISS FALL IN LOVE" before you even read this. The lyrics sum up Tamaki and Haruhi's relationship, starting as host club members, then becoming more familiar with each other, all the way to realizing their romantic feelings. The couple is eternal and so is this song.
