Anime film 'The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes' releases trailer for September 2022

Lead characters Kaoru Tono and Anzu Hanashiro strike a deal to make their wishes come true.

A trailer video has been released for the anime film adaptation of Mei Hachimoku and Kukka's sci-fi romance light novel The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes.


The film will premiere in theaters in Japan on Sept. 9, 2022.

The story features main characters Kaoru Tono (CV: Oji Suzuka), a boy coping with the loss of his sister, Karen (CV: Seiran Kobayashi), and Anzu Hanashiro (CV: Marie Iitoyo), a girl who transfers to his school due to certain issues.


At their school, there is a popular urban legend about the Urashima Tunnel, wherein whoever enters the tunnel gets their wish granted in exchange for never aging. The two decide to work together to enter the tunnel in order to fulfill their respective wishes.

The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes (Japanese: 夏へのトンネル、さよならの出口) is a Japanese light novel written by Mokune Hachi and illustrated by Kukka, published by Shogakukan under its Gagaga Bunko imprint in July 2019.


A manga adaptation, titled The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes: Ultramarine, illustrated by Koudon, started in Shogakukan's seinen manga magazine Monthly Sunday Gene-X in July 2020.
