The trailer showcases fast-paced action thanks to the Gundam’s boost system, different weapons, several skills, and all-out mayhem. The gameplay looks incredibly similar to Blizzard’s Overwatch released in 2016. Bandai Namco previously reported plans of developing a video game for E-sports using the Gundam franchise and, given its format, Gundam Evolution looks like the frontrunner for competitive gaming.
Gundam, created by Yoshiyuki Tomino and Sunrise, is a Japanese military science fiction mixed media franchise that began with Mobile Suit Gundam, a TV series released in 1979. The successful series practically defined the real robot sub-genre for the mecha genre by showcasing mobile suits, basically giant robots, which use conceivable yet futuristic weaponry rather than superpowers. The series was a hit and birthed a franchise which developed a plethora of TV series, films, OVAs, manga, video games, and Gunpla — the omega popular scale model kits.
