'Bofuri: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense.' Season 2 TV anime premieres in 2022

The official Twitter for the TV anime adaptation of Yuumikan and Koin's "Bofuri: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense." novel series has announced on Saturday that the second season of the TV anime series is scheduled to premiere in 2022. The announcement was made through a live-streamed Bofuri special program broadcasted through the Kadokawa's Anime Channel. No additional details were revealed as of writing.

The first season of the anime series is animated by SilverLink with Shin Ōnuma and Mirai Minato serving as the series directors. The character designs were handled by Kazuya Hirata and series composition were by Fumihiko Shimo. The series consisted of 12 episode was aired between January 8 and March 25, 2020 in Japan. The second season of the series was announced after the last episode of the first season's broadcast.

The Bofuri: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense (Itai no wa Iya nano de Bōgyoryoku ni Kyokufuri Shitai to Omoimasu.) Japanese light novel series is written by Yuumikan and illustrated by Koin. The series began its serialization online in 2016 on the user-generated novel publishing website Shuosetsuka ni Narou which was later acquired by Fujimi Shobo, who published the first light novel volume in September 2017 under their Kadokawa Books imprint.


Synopsis:

Urged on by her friend, Kaede Honjō begins playing the VRMMORPG NewWorld Online under the name Maple. Not wanting to get hurt, Maple opts to be a shield user with maxed out defense stats, and continues putting every status point she earns in the game into increasing only her defense level. As a result, she is left with slow foot speed and no magic, but her high defense allows her to endure most hits without taking any damage. This, along with her basic-level creative thinking, allows for her to make unexpected accomplishments in the game, its quests and events. By doing this, she ends up earning all kinds of equally unexpected skills and becomes one of the strongest players in the game.
