'Doraemon: Nobita's Little Star Wars 2021' film announces Spring 2022 premiere in Japan after delay

The official Twitter of Doraemon Channel has announced on Saturday that the 2021 film remake of Doraemon's 1985 film "Eiga Doraemon: Nobita no Little Star Wars (Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's Little Star Wars)" is now scheduled to open in Japanese theaters in Spring 2022. The film was originally scheduled to open on March 5, 2021 but was postponed due to COVID-19.


The production committee of the film releases a new trailer with an updated release date.

Susumu Yamaguchi is directing the new film with Dai Sato creating the scripts. 3D CG animation studio Shirogumi, which is also behind the animation production for the Doraemon the Movie: Stand By Me 1 & 2 films, is handling the CG of the film.

The theme song titled "Universe" which was previewed in the trailer is performed and composed by Official HiGE DANdism.


Doraemon's 40th film, Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's New Dinosaur, opened in Japan on August 7, 2020. It was originally scheduled to premiere on March 6 of the same year but was later postponed due to the effects of the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
