On the other news...

Last October 29, a compilation film of the 'Fruits Basket' television (TV) anime series has been announced. The film titled 'Fruits Basket -prelude-' will be releasing on February 18 and will include the previously-announced special anime episode "The Story of Kyoko and Katsuya (Kyoko to Katsuya no Monogatari)' focusing on the relationship between Kyoko and Katsuya, the late parents of Tohru Honda.

The film will also include new scenes depicting the epilogue - the events taking place after the TV anime's final season story. The scenes were written specifically by Takaya.

The main staff and main cast of the anime's final season are returning for the film. TMS Entertainment is returning to handle the animation production.

Last June 29, right after the final episode broadcast of the final season of TV anime series, a teaser footage announcing the new anime project was revealed at the end of the ending credits of the third and final episode of Fruits Basket The Final Season. The ending credits video serving as the series' as a thank-you commemorative video was also posted on the official YouTube channel of Avex Pictures.

The final season of the Fruits Basket series was aired from April 6 to June 29, 2021 with 13 episodes. The cast and staff of the previous seasons (Seasons 1 and 2) reprised their roles for the final season of the Fruits Basket series. It was animated by animation studio TMS Entertainment with the direction of Yoshihide Ibata. The scripts were written by Taku Kishimoto and the character designs were handled by Yu Shindo. Masaru Yokoyama served as the music composer and the original series author Natsuki Takaya supervised the production.

The series is based from the Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Natsuki Takaya. It was serialized in Hakusensha's semi-monthly Japanese shoujo manga magazine Hana to Yume from 1998 to 2006.

Fruits Basket, sometimes abbreviated Furuba, tells the story of Tohru Honda, an orphan girl who, after meeting Yuki, Kyo, and Shigure Soma, learns that twelve members of the Soma family are possessed by the animals of the Chinese zodiac and are cursed to turn into their animal forms when they are weak, stressed, or when they are embraced by anyone of the opposite sex that is not possessed by a spirit of the zodiac. As the series progresses, Tohru learns of the hardships and pain faced by the afflicted members of the Soma family, and through her own generous and loving nature, helps heal their emotional wounds. As she learns more about Yuki, Kyo, and the rest of the mysterious Soma family, Tohru also learns more about herself and how much others care for her. (from Wiki)
