'In the Land of Leadale' VR isekai light novel series' TV anime adaptation begins January 2022

Anime streaming platform Crunchyroll has announced on Sunday that the TV anime adaptation of Ceez and Tenmaso's "In the Land of Leadale (Leadale no Daichi nite)" light novel series will begin broadcasting in January 2022. MAHO Films is animating the series.

The original In the Land of Leadale Japanese light novel series written by Ceez and illustrated by Tenmaso was serialized from November 2010 to December 2012 as a web novel in the Shousetsuka ni Narou website. The six chapters set after the end of the story from 2013 to 2019 was then released by Ceez and Kadokawa began publishing the series since January 2019. The latest and the sixth volume of thee novel will ship on February 27.

The novel was also adapted into a manga series by author Ryo Suzukaze and artist Dashio Tsukimi which began its serialization in 2019 in Kadokawa's Dengeki PlayStation Comic Web manga website. It has been collected into two tankobon volumes published by Kadokawa as of February 2021 with the second volume released last August 2020.


English publisher Yen Press describes the novel as:

The last thing she can remember is her life support beginning to fail. Her body had suffered terribly after a fateful accident and the only freedom left in her life came from the VR world of Leadale. How did she end up in a place that looks exactly like her game except that 200 years have apparently gone by?


Yen Press released the first volume in English in October 2020, and will release the second volume on February 23.
