The late PM has succumbed to his injuries after being shot earlier this morning, July 8, in Nara City.

As of 17:00 PHT, news outlets across the world are reporting the death of Japan's Former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who was in Nara City this morning for a campaign event.
Abe was shot while delivering a speech. An NHK reporter at the scene reported hearing two consecutive bangs before Abe collapsed on the ground and lost consciousness. He was rushed to the hospital with no vital signs and in a state of cardiac arrest.
Authorities are still investigating the incident. A 42-year-old-male suspect was detained earlier this morning while Abe was still in critical condition.
