Gege Akutami's "Jujutsu Kaisen" manga series grabbed the top 15 out of 16 spots in Oricon's Weekly Manga Sales Ranking by Volume for January 11 - 17 as revealed by the entertainment news giant Oricon on Friday. The series' 15 volumes including the prequel Volume 0 made it to the top with the most recent 14th volume acquiring the highest sales of 190,724 copies sold only for this week.
Hajime Isayama's Attack on Titan manga series tops the ranking with its 33rd volume.
Just recently, a new milestone was achieved by the manga as it reaches 20 million copies in circulation with physical and digital copies combined. The team behind the series showed their appreciation to the fans through the Twitter post and humbly invited them that if the fans liked the TV anime series, they should read the original manga as well.
The current count doubled in just a few months and the TV anime adaptation served as one of the major reasons behind the increased sales. On October 29, 2020, the manga celebrated its previous milestone of 10 million copies in circulation.
The Jujutsu manga series was serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump since March 2018. The individual chapters are collected and published by Shueisha, with thirteen tankōbon volumes released as of October 2020. Shueisha also began to simulpublish the series in English on the app and website Manga Plus in January 2019.
A 24-episode anime television series adaptation produced by animation studio MAPPA has premiered in October 2020. The series is directed by Sunghoo Park at MAPPA and Hiroshi Seko is writing and supervising the scripts. Tadashi Hiramatsu is designing the characters with Hiroaki Tsutsumi, Yoshimasa Terui, and Arisa Okehazama composing the music.
