The teaser video below features compiled scenes from previously animated works for the KanColle franchise. The TV anime's official website also explains that this is not merely a season 2, but a rebuild of the story starting from KanColle 1944.

Kantai Collection (Japanese: 艦隊これくしょん), abbreviated as KanColle (艦これ, KanKore), is a Japanese free-to-play web browser game developed by Kadokawa Games and published by DMM.com.

The game revolves around teenage girls and young adult woman as the personified representations of World War II warships. Gameplay involves all aspects of naval warfare, including not only combat but also maintenance, repair, upgrading, resupply, morale, logistics and mission planning.

The first TV anime adaptation was produced by studio Diomedéa in 2015, which was followed by an anime film called KanColle: The Movie in 2016. This upcoming season 2 will be produced by studio ENGI.
