Genko and Studio Gokumi's "Katana Maidens (Toji No Miko)" TV anime series has been announced on Tuesday to receive a recital drama project adaptation soon as revealed a key visual and an announcement by its official Twitter. The new project is part of the 3rd anniversary of the anime and is still underway. No other details were revealed as of writing.
The new project entitled "Swordsman no Shrine Maiden Seisatsu Hoto" was planned as a work of KADOKAWA's recitation drama brand READPIA. It will be based on the TV anime series produced and animated by the collaboration of Genko and Studio Gokumi, with co-production by Crunchyroll. The series which ran for 24 episodes was aired from January 5 to June 22, 2018. It was directed Kodai Kakimoto and the series scripts were written by Tatsuya Takahashi with Yoshinori Shizuma designed the original characters.
The cast included Kaede Hondo as Kanami Eto, Saori Ōnishi as Hiyori Jujo, Azumi Waki as Mai Yanase, Hina Kino as Sayaka Itomi, Risae Matsuda as Kaoru Mashiko, Eri Suzuki as Ellen Kohagura, Asami Seto as Yukari Origami, Yumi Uchiyama as Maki Shido, M.A.O as Suzuka Konohana, Mai Fuchigami as Yomi Satsuki, Inori Minase as Yume Tsubakuro, and many more.
A manga adaptation written by Sakae Saito began serialization in the December 2017 issue of KADOKAWA Shoten's Monthly Shōnen Ace on October 26 and ended on March 26, 2020.
Square Enix has adapted the series into a mobile game titled Katana Maidens ~ Toji No Miko: Kizamishi Issen no Tomoshibi which was announced and released on iOS and Android devices in 2018. The cast reprised their roles and the game used Shizuma's character designs.
A novel adaptation was also released on July 19, 2019 and it follows the original story beginning a year before the events in the anime.
