The official Twitter for Yuu Tanaka and Llo's Reincarnated as a Sword (Tensei Shitara Ken deshita) light novel has announced on Thursday, through a decision banner visual, that the fantasy novel is receiving a television (TV) anime adaptation. No other details were revealed as of writing.

In addition to the adaptation announcement, it was also revealed that the light novel has reached 1.8 million copies in circulation.

The series also known as I Became the Sword by Transmigrating was first serialized as a web novel on the user-generated Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in October 2015. The novels were later licensed by Micro Magazine, who released the first volume in July 2016. As of September 2019, the series has been collected in eight tankōbon volumes by Micro Magazine under their GC Novel imprint.

It inspired a manga adaptation by Tomowo Maruyama, published by Gentosha, as well as a spin-off manga by Hinako Inoue, published by Micro Magazine.

Seven Seas Entertainment, which published the novel in North America, describes the series as:

When a 30-year-old salaryman and games enthusiast is suddenly killed in a car accident, he finds himself reborn into a fantasy world…but in the form of a sword! Now he’s in search of a beautiful woman to wield him, and a cat girl named Fran might be the exact adventuring partner he needs.
