Summary
Rimuru finishes up his buffet of human souls with another powerful technique. The Harvest Festival begins and the sleepy slime rushes home. Back at Tempest, the citizens watch as their master becomes a Demon Lord.
King's Karma
The angry slime’s overwhelming assault on the humans is incredibly satisfying. The people in the camp are terrified and King Edomalis practically wets his royal underwear. He even tries to act tough while trying to intimidate Rimuru but the slime is in no mood for useless haughty talk. The look on the King’s face is priceless! This whole sequence is a classic get-what-you-deserve scene and it’s enjoyable.
Megiddo + Merciless = Massacre
After Rimuru obliterates a good number of humans with Megiddo in Falmuth’s camp he acquires a new unique skill called Merciless. This skill is ridiculously powerful! Basically, anyone that loses the spirit to fight the owner of Merciless will die if the skill is activated. Well, guess what the thousands of soldiers felt after seeing the initial onslaught? Rimuru activates Merciless and poof, the soldiers die.
New Friends
The buffet of human souls ends with the beginning of the Harvest Festival which also puts Rimuru to sleep! Right before passing out, the slime calls on Ranga to take him home and offers the thousands of bodies to summon new friends: demons. Three show up and one looks familiar. By Rimuru’s orders, the demons proceed to hunt down and capture the lone survivor in the camp.
Harvest Festival: Becoming a Demon Lord
Ranga rushes the sleeping slime back to Tempest for a safe ritual. All the citizens gather in the town square and watch as Rimuru transcends into a Demon Lord. The Great Sage facilitates the transformation and a ton of new skills and titles pop up (e.g., Raphael, Beelzebub, Demon Slime, Infinite Regeneration). Everyone connected to the master receives gifts as well. Lastly, the resurrection of the fallen begins. The ending song plays at a perfect time to slap viewers with some feels of triumph.
VERDICT
Author's Rating: 8.5/10
There was not as much action in this episode but it was still entertaining and fulfilling. On top of the crazy events the transpired, the pacing was fantastic. Seeing the King and his Archbishop grovel and beg for mercy was amazing as it bolstered Rimuru’s absolute victory over the scummy villains. Props to the writers for making these characters extra despicable. It was nice to see that the triumph was shared by the entire Tempest. The evolution into a Demon Lord came with a billion buffs and bonuses even for the other citizens connected to their master. Best of all, the resurrection scene was done magnificently. That final sequence with the ending song was excellent and it brought out all the feels.
What’s next for Rimuru now that he’s a Demon Lord? What will happen to the Kingdom of Falmuth? How will the rest of the world react to the slime’s transformation? Find out next week!
