The previously-announced television (TV) anime series adaptation for Daisuke Aizawa and Tozai's "The Eminence in Shadow (Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute!)" isekai light novel has been scheduled for 2022.
A new teaser visual and a promotional video (PV) were revealed for its premiere next year. The anime series is animated by animation studio Nexus.
The series is based on original light novel series of the same title by Daisuke Aizawa which was serialized as a web novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in May 2018. It is being published by KADOKAWA in physical copies with illustrations by Tōzai which started in November 2018 and its fifth volume to start shipping on Friday.
The novel inspired a manga adaptation by Anri Sakano in Kadokawa's Comp Ace magazine in December 2018. Also, the manga's fifth volume will ship on Friday.
English publisher Yen Press describes the series as:
Shadowbrokers are those who go unnoticed, posing as unremarkable people, when in truth, they control everything from behind the scenes. Sid wants to be someone just like that more than anything, and something as insignificant as boring reality isn't going to get in his way! He trains in secret every single night, preparing for his eventual rise to power—only to denied his destiny by a run-of-the-mill (yet deadly) traffic accident. But when he wakes up in a another world and suddenly finds himself at the head of an actual secret organization doing battle with evil in the shadows, he'll finally get a chance to act out all of his delusional fantasies!
