Subaruichi's action-adventure manga The Legendary Hero Is Dead! (Romaji: Yuusha ga Shinda!: Murabito no Ore ga Hotta Otoshiana ni Yuusha ga Ochita Kekka.) has released a teaser video for the upcoming TV anime adaptation in 2023.
The anime will be produced by studio LIDENFILMS. It will be directed by Rion Kujo (Shin Ikki Tousen).
The story stars legendary hero Shion Bladearts (CV: Shun'ichi Toki), who sealed off the Gate that the Demon Lord used to invade the human realm. However, the seal weakens and prompts farmer Touka Scott (CV: Wataru Kato and Shun'ichi Toki), who lives in a nearby village, to dig holes and trap the demons. Unfortunately, this results in Shion's sudden death after he falls into one of the traps.
The teaser video below also introduces necromancer Anri Haynesworth and Touka's childhood friend Yuna Yunis, though their voice actors have not been revealed as of writing.
The Legendary Hero Is Dead! is a manga series written and illustrated by Subaruichi. It was serialized on Shogakukan's MangaONE and Ura Sunday magazines. The series ran from December 2014 to December 2020, totaling 20 tankobon volumes.
The spin-off manga, The Legendary Hero Is Dead! God's Kingdom (Romaji: Yuusha ga Shinda!: Kami no Kuni-hen) will begin serialization on MangaONE in May 2022.
