Magical girl anime Tokyo Mew Mew New, the second TV anime adaptation for comedy-fantasy series Tokyo Mew Mew (2002-2003), has released its second promotional video.
The show will air on July 5, 2022 on TV Tokyo and affiliates. It is jointly animated by studios Yumeta Company and Graphinica.
As with the first Tokyo Mew Mew anime, Mew Mew New stars Ichigo Momomiya (CV: Yuuki Temma) who realizes she is able to transform into a cat-eared magical girl (Mew Ichigo). Tokyo Mew Mew (Japanese: 東京ミュウミュウ, Romaji: Tōkyō Myū Myū) is a Japanese manga series created and written by Reiko Yoshida and illustrated by Mia Ikumi. It was originally serialized in Kodansha's shōjo manga magazine Nakayoshi from September 2000 to February 2003.
The series focuses on five girls infused with the DNA of endangered animals which gives them special powers and allows them to transform into "Mew Mews." Led by Ichigo Momomiya, the girls protect the earth from aliens who wish to "reclaim" it.
The first anime adaptation by Studio Pierrot consisted of 52 episodes which aired from 2002 to 2003. Tokyo Mew Mew New (Japanese: 東京ミュウミュウ にゅ～♡, Romaji: Tōkyō Myū Myū Nyū) is the second anime adaptation, this time produced by Yumeta Company and their parent company, Graphinica, scheduled to air in 2022.
