City Hunter (Japanese: シティーハンター) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tsukasa Hojo. It was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1985 to 1991 and collected into 35 tankōbon volumes by its publisher Shueisha.
The manga was adapted into a 51-episode TV anime series by Sunrise Studios from 1987 to 1988. It was followed by a season 2, also animated by Sunrise, from 1988 to 1989.
In the 35 years since the TV anime first aired, the latest addition to the franchise was the anime film City Hunter the Movie: Shinjuku Private Eyes, which premiered on Feb. 8, 2019. The upcoming film will continue from where the 2019 movie left off.
