Shiro's Encouragement of Climb (Yama no Susume) slice of life manga series is receiving its fourth TV anime series adaptation titled "Encouragement of Climb: Next Summit" as announced on Friday by its official Twitter account.
The series is the fourth TV anime adaptation and is animated by animation studio 8-bit with Yusuke Yamamoto returning to direct the series. The character design are handled by the returning Yuusuke Matsuo.
The previous TV anime adaptation cast will reprise their roles for the new series which includes:
Yuka Iguchi as Aoi Yukimura
Kana Asumi as Hinata Karaue
Youko Hikasa as Kaede Saitou
Yui Ogura as Kokona Aoba
Nao Touyama as Honoka Kurosaki
The new series is a part of the 10th year anniversary celebration of the original manga series which was first announced in December 2019 as a "new project". It is based on the Japanese manga seris written and illustrated by Shiro which began its serialization in 2011 in Earth Star Entertainment's Comic Earth Star magazine. It has been collected into 19 Tankōbon volumes as of August 2020 with the 20th volume to be released on April 12, 2021.
The manga adapted into several TV anime adaptation with the first season aired in 2013, the second season in 2014, and the third season in 2018. An original video animation (OVA) was also released in 2017 titled "Encouragement of Climb: Memories Present (Yama no Susume: Omoide Present)".
