'Zombie Land Saga Season 2: Revenge' TV anime series special announcement on January 1, 2021

The official Twitter account for the original anime series "Zombie Land Saga" has revealed on Monday that there will be a special announcement broadcast for the second season of the TV anime series titled "Zombie Land Saga Revenge" on January 1, 2021 at 12:00 AM JST.


The announcement was made through a teaser video posted on their official Twitter page.

The broadcast will air via Avex Pictures' Official YouTube channel on January 1, 2021 12:00 AM JST (December 31, 2020 at 11:00 PM Philippine/HK Time).

The original TV anime series Zombie Land Saga was animated by MAPPA and produced by Avex Pictures and Cygames. The first season of the series of the same titled aired in Japan from October 4 and December 20, 2018 on Japan's AT-X, Tokyo MX, Sun TV, BS11, Saga TV, and TVQ. The series which consisted of 12 episodes was directed by Munehisa Sakai with scripts written by Shigeru Murakoshi. The series' character designs were handled by Kasumi Fukagawa with art direction by Kazuo Ogura and photography direction by Takashi Yanagida. Azusa Sasaki was in charge of the color design, and Masahiro Goto for the editing. The series' music was composed by Yasuharu Takanashi, with production by Avex Pictures, while dugout produced the sound.


The second season of the series titled "Zombieland Saga Revenge" was announced on July 27, 2019.

Aside from the TV anime adaptation, the series was adapted into a manga by Megumu Soramichi which began its serialization on Cygames' Cycomi website on October 8, 2018. A stage play based on the anime, Zombie Land Saga Stage de Do-n!, was also set to premiere last March 11 to 14, 2020, but was later canceled due to the effects of COVID-19 pandemic in Japan.


The story follows high school student Sakura Minamoto who was abruptly killed by a truck on the morning she plans to submit an idol application in the year 2008. Ten years later, Sakura, along with six "legendary" girls from various eras of Japan's history, are brought back as zombies by a man named Kotaro Tatsumi, who seeks to revitalize Saga Prefecture by putting together an all-zombie idol group known as Franchouchou (フランシュシュ, Furanshushu)
