'Baki' series launches project to celebrate the franchise's 30th Anniversary in September

The 'Baki' series franchise is celebrating its 30th anniversary in September. A project banner commemorating the milestone has been revealed on Thursday. The project has commenced through a 'creative fan contest' online, the launch of the special commemoration site, and the announcement of the Fall 2021 worldwide premiere of the third series and the sequel to the second season of the 'Baki' anime series titled 'Baki Hanma (Baki: Son of Ogre)' on Netflix.

In addition, the production committee of the upcoming anime adaptation of Keisuke Itagaki's "Baki Hanma (Baki: Son of Ogre)" manga has also revealed during the launch of the project, a new key visual for the anime. The series is scheduled to premiere worldwide through Netflix this coming Fall.

TMS Entertainment is animating the series, with the previous staff and cast of the second season of the series expected to return for the sequel.


The original Baki Hanma (Baki: Son of Ogre) series is third series of the Grappler Baki manga franchise and the sequel to the second season of the 'Baki' anime series streaming in Netflix. The manga was serialized in Akita Shoten's Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine from December 1, 2005 and ended on August 16, 2012. It has been collected into 37 volumes. The story encompasses the Oliva's Fortress, The Prehistoric Menace, Retsu Kaiou's Boxing, and the final confrontation of Yujiro and Baki.
