Netflix has released a promotional video and cast and staff information for the upcoming anime adaptation of Kazushi Hagiwara's heavy metal and Dungeons & Dragons-themed dark fantasy manga series, BASTARD!!
The anime will be released on the major streaming platform in two cours (a total of 24 episodes) within 2022.
The series features protagonist Dark Schnedier (CV: Kishō Taniyama) who has lived for over 400 years fighting monsters, evil wizards, and gods of destruction. He is a wizard and former leader of the Riders, resurrected within the body of 14-year-old Lucien Renlen.

Bastard!!: Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy (Japanese: BASTARD!! -暗黒の破壊神-) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Kazushi Hagiwara. It began its serialization in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump in 1988, and has continued irregularly in Ultra Jump since 2000, with its latest chapter released in 2010. Twenty-seven collected tankōbon volumes have been released as of 2012. The manga was formerly licensed for English release in North America by Viz Media; only the first nineteen volumes were released.
