Japanese voice actor, narrator, singer-songwriter and MC Yuki Ono posted a photo of ‘Shigeshige Tokugawa’ action figure on his official Twitter account as he celebrates his 37th birthday.

Born on June 22, 1984 in Shizuoka, Japan, Yuki Ono was not really set for voice acting. During his high school, Ono dreamed of becoming a professional soccer player but had to give up his ambition due to an accident that resulted to a bone fracture. He was an avid fan of Kishō Taniyama (VA of Jean Kirstein from “Attack on Titan” and Chuya Nakahara from “Bungo Stray Dogs”). Upon meeting the voice actor in an anime event, he was inspired to pursue a same career. He made his debut as the voice of Shigeshige Tokugawa in 2006 TV animation series “Gintama”. Since then, he has been active in the entertainment industry, lending his voice in films, OVAs, video games, radio drama and live action films and television drama.

Apart from being a voice actor, he is also a singer-songwriter, narrator and MC at TOKYO MX "Guraburu TV Channel!". Alongside Takuya Eguchi (VA of Yuuji Terushima in Haikyuu!!, Akihiko Kaji from Given and Shuji Hanma from Tokyo Revengers), he formed the VA-unit You-Tak (ゆーたく, Yū-Taku) in 2011.

His notable and popular roles include:

  • Taiga Kagami from “Kuroko no Basket”

  • Jousuke Higashikata from “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part IV: Diamond is Unbreakable”

  • Shigeshige Tokugawa from “Gintama”

  • Jun Isashiki from “Diamond no Ace”

  • Junta Azumaya from “Dakaichi”

  • Louis from “Beastars”

Recently, he has dubbed John H. Watson from “Moriarty the Patriot”, Taiga Himuro from “Skate-Leading Stars” and Takagu Oze from “Fire Force Season 2”.

He is married to a non-showbiz wife and in 2020, he became a father to their first-born child.

Happy birthday, Ono-sensei!
