The official website for Tetsuya Tsutsui’s ‘noise’ live adaptation film has released on Wednesday a teaser trailer for the upcoming film. Furthermore, the video reveals the film’s premiere date in Japanese theaters on January 28, 2022.

Director Ryuichi Hiroki works for the film with Sho Kataoka as scriptwriter. Music composition is handled by Yoshihide Otomo.

Tatsuya Fujiwara stars as Keita Izumi (the main protagonist) with Kenichi Matsuyama as Jun Tanabe (Keita’s childhood friend). It was recalled that the two actors have worked before in the live-action films of Death Note (Fujiwara as Light Yagami and Matsuyama as “L”). Included in the cast are Ryunosuke Kamiki who will play Shinichiro Moriya (a rookie police officer) and Daichi Watanabe as Mutsuo Komisaka.

In the teaser trailer, a scene where a murder was committed by Keita Izumi. The corpse’s body, who was revealed to be Mutsuo Komisaka, was hidden by Keita with his friend Jun Tanabe and police officer Shinichiro Moriya who served as accomplices. The unsolved mystery case then creates a “noise” that disrupts the once peaceful town.

The teaser visual reveals Keita, Jun and Shinichiro with Mutsuo in the background, lifeless.

Comments from Daichi Watanabe in portraying Mutsuo Komisaka:

I think this movie focuses on the horrors created by human relationships that can occur in everyday life.
And my role was just like "noise" that shakes the peaceful lives of the characters. However, the staff and cast members at the site welcomed me with such "noise" very warmly. Thank you for your wonderful relationship.

The story is set in a rural village in the island of Inokari which suffers immensely from a declining population due to aging and migration of inhabitants. Things began to stir up when Keita Izumi, a caretaker of a black fig plantation, creates a new fig species which became popular even outside the village. Thanks to the impact of the media, the village’s economy started to bloom and money became not a problem. Chances begin to turn bleak upon the arrival of a stranger named Mutsuo Komisaka who seeks employment in the town. Keita had his hunches over the strange guy who reveals to be an ex-convict for harassment and murder.

The thriller/suspense manga was launched and started serialization in Shueisha’s Grand Jump magazine on December 2017. It ended in January 2020 with 23 chapters published in 3 volumes.
