'Overlord' Season 4 TV anime and anime film officially announced, airing date to be revealed soon

The official Twitter and website for the TV anime adaptation of Kugane Maruyama and so-bin's "Overlord" light novel series have officially announced during the Overlord Special Program held on Saturday, the fourth season installment of the anime series and an anime film. A key visual was revealed to commemorate the announcement. Airing date and more information will be revealed at a later date.

The Overlord light novel series written by Kugane Maruyama and illustrated by so-bin has been first serialized since 2010 as a web novel in the novel publishing website Arcadia and was then published on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in 2012. Enterbrain started to published the novel physically in 2012 and has been collected into 13 tankōbon volumes with the fourteenth volume releasing on March 13, 2020.

It inspired a manga series by Satoshi Ōshio with illustrations by Hugin Miyama serialized in Kadokawa Shoten's manga magazine Comp Ace from November 26, 2014.


It was also been adapted into a TV anime series by Madhouse with the first season airing from July 7 to September 29, 2015 in Japan consisting of 13 episodes covering the first to third volume of the novel. The second season of the series followed in 2018 and was aired from January 9 to April 4, 2018 with 13 episodes covering the novel's fourth to sixth volume. A third season premiered on July 10, 2018 and ran for another 13 episodes which ended on October 2 of the same year. It covered the seventh to ninth volume of the novel.


During the Overlord panel at AnimagiC 2019 event held in Germany, the fourth season of the anime series was discussed by the novel's author, illustrator and the anime's scriptwriter Yukie Sugawara.
