Ufotable releases teaser video, visual for 'Katsugeki/Touken Ranbu' anime film project

Official social media accounts have announced that an anime film project for fantasy series Katsugeki/Touken Ranbu is ongoing production by Ufotable.

Katsugeki/Touken Ranbu (Japanese: 活撃 刀剣乱舞) is a Japanese anime television series produced by Ufotable and directed by Toshiyuki Shirai, with music composed by Hideyuki Fukasawa. It is based on the video game Touken Ranbu. The anime series aired between July 1 and September 23, 2017.


Touken Ranbu (刀剣乱舞) is a free-to-play collectible card browser video game developed by Nitroplus and DMM Games. The game was launched in Japan in January of 2015 and worldwide in April 2021. Players assume the role of a sage who travels into the past to defeat evil forces and has the ability to animate legendary swords which are depicted as attractive young men.
