The official Twitter account for the World Trigger (ワールドトリガー) anime by Daisuke Ashihara has announced that the TV series is premiering its third season on October 9, 2021 on TV Asahi's late night block. It will air every Saturday at 1:30 am.
The staff hosted a livestream event on YouTube on August 15, 2021 to promote details of the third season, however, the video is currently region-locked to Japan only. AniRadio will update this article with a region-free video if one becomes available.
A second livestream event is scheduled for September 8, 2021, titled World Trigger Channel Vol.2. The first event, World Trigger Channel Vol.1 (Japanese: アニメ「ワールドトリガー」3rdシーズン特報映像（2021年10月9日（土）テレビ朝日系列にて深夜1時30分～放送開始）, which is still region-locked to Japan, is being archived on YouTube's Toei Animation official channel.
The third season will feature a returning cast, including:
Tomo Muranaka as Yuuma Kuga
Yuuki Kaji as Osamu Mikumo
Nao Tamura as Chika Amatori
Yuuichi Nakamura as Yuuichi Jin
Nobunaga Shimazaki as Hyuse
In addition, the music event titled World Trigger THE MUSIC EXPO will be held at the Tokyo Garden Theater on October 17, 2021. The event will feature composer Kenji Kawai and the World Trigger Symphonic Band. Attendees will be able to enjoy the famous anime scenes along with live orchestra performances. Daisuke Ashihara's World Trigger began as a manga that was serialized in Weekly Shounen Jump from February 2013 to November 2018, then transferred to Jump Square in December 2018.
In addition to the manga and now three-season anime, the franchise has also expanded to games including World Trigger: Borderless Mission (ワールドトリガー ボーダレスミッション) on PlayStation Vita, and World Trigger: Smash Borders (ワールドトリガー スマッシュボーダーズ) on iOS and Android.
Synopsis of World Trigger by MAL
When a gate to another world suddenly opens on Earth, Mikado City is invaded by strange creatures known as "Neighbors," malicious beings impervious to traditional weaponry. In response to their arrival, an organization called the Border Defense Agency was established to combat the Neighbor menace through special weapons called "Triggers." Even though several years have passed after the gate first opened, Neighbors are still a threat and members of Border remain on guard to ensure the safety of the planet.
Despite this delicate situation, members-in-training, such as Osamu Mikumo, are not permitted to use their Triggers outside of headquarters. But when the mysterious new student in his class is dragged into a forbidden area by bullies, they are attacked by Neighbors, and Osamu has no choice but to do what he believes is right. Much to his surprise, however, the transfer student Yuuma Kuga makes short work of the aliens, revealing that he is a humanoid Neighbor in disguise.
