Meetings filled with mystery and intrigue plus a scary warning from an old friend; Rimuru is going to be very busy!
Laplace brings news on the Western Holy Church to his “boss” and together they plot. Meanwhile, the important meeting in Tempest takes a quick pause thanks to Veldora’s appearance prompting an explanation from Rimuru. When the gathering finally reconvenes, they discuss what to do about the Western Holy Church but Ramiris cuts in with an ominous message.
There seems to be an extra bit of mischief afoot as the episode opens with Laplace struggling against a vampire guarding the Western Holy Church’s sacred mountain which houses the Inner Temple. It sounds pretty strange that a vampire is protecting something supposedly holy, right? This bloodsucker turns out to be a Demon Lord named Valentine (very fitting name for a vamp).
The shadiness amps up as an old character reveals his more villainous (maybe) intent which even affected a certain slime: Grandmaster Yuuki Kagurazaka. Although his exact ambitions have not come to light, it seems like he cares a great deal about Western Holy Church and is willing to do whatever it takes to get what he wants. The Grandmaster even resurrected the president of the Moderate Harlequin Alliance, Demon Lord Kazaream, by placing his soul into a female homunculus. What is Yuuki Kagurazaka planning? He’s got an air of sketchiness about him, but are his intentions evil?
Just as the meeting in Tempest is about to begin, Veldora shows up and shocks the outsiders causing the gathering to take an abrupt pause. Rimuru ends up telling his origin story in order to explain the Storm Dragon’s current status. King Gazel Dwargo and Archduke Elalude Grimwald have no qualms about the facts and form an alliance with the worried slime. This is another slow, diplomatic sequence for the series.
Hot Topic to Hot Warning
The Western Holy Church gets a ton of attention this episode and Tempest’s gathering discusses how to deal with this new foe. Apparently, Rimuru’s initial encounter with Hinata Sakaguchi seemed strange and the holy knight might have been out of character; perhaps there is a deeper issue that must be unearthed. There’s a great bit of humor as Diablo and Shion butt heads since they both want to kill Hinata Sakaguchi and Veldora is just about to join but Rimuru stops them; what a fun dynamic! As the group moves on to the next topic, Ramiris crashes in and brings troubling news: Tempest will be destroyed. Cue shocked faces and roll credits — that’s literally the end of the episode. What a cliff hanger! New Opening and Ending
Author's Rating: 8.4/10
Another episode of meetings and meetings but luckily, they dropped interesting information and new mysteries! This episode was all about build-up and piquing interest and it worked well. The revelations at the beginning were fantastic, the bits of humor here and there were entertaining — especially the one involving Diablo, Shion, and Veldora — and the final kick at the end from Ramiris was wonderful. Overall, the episode excellently built up the coming conflict!
What does Yuuki Kagurazaka want? And what is going on with the Western Holy Church? What will happen to Rimuru’s plans of waging war against Clayman given the stern warning from Ramiris? Find out next week!
